Viesgo, leader in the GRESB sustainability ranking

After Viesgo’s excellent scores in the GRESB sustainability ranking in 2019, the electricity company has once again presented itself to this international index this year, improving its scores and becoming the absolute leader in the South of Europe in the energy infrastructure sector , obtaining the highest grade awarded, 96.45 points out of 100 possible.

In this edition, and after evaluating 406 companies in the infrastructure sector, GRESB has decided to grant Viesgo the highest recognition, corresponding to five stars, thanks to the excellent performance carried out in 2019, in which the company has promoted best practices in matters of sustainability, social action and good governance.

According to the president of Viesgo, Miguel Antoñanzas, “this ranking, which recognizes Viesgo as the seventh most sustainable infrastructure company in the world and the first in southern Europe, values Viesgo’s commitment to sustainability and reflects the effort of all the people who make up Viesgo in creating a sustainable business model and the importance for our organization of ESG factors in decision-making “.

He added that “the GRESB assessment measures and provides us with information on the global development of the international infrastructure sector and encourages us to reinforce this strategy in order to achieve recognition of transparency by our clients, employees and other stakeholders. “.

Score improvement in this edition

For yet another year, nearly 550 funds and assets from different sectors worldwide have been evaluated by the independent international GRESB index, under environmental, social and corporate governance parameters.

Viesgo has increased its score this year by 9 points, reaching 96.45 points out of 100 compared to those obtained the previous year, which was the first time it had performed. In addition, the company has obtained the highest values in the evaluation of social and environmental aspects.

This commitment to sustainability is aligned with Viesgo’s purpose “Energy for the world we want” and with the company’s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

In sections as relevant as Health and Safety, Environment and biodiversity, Employees and Clients, Viesgo has received the highest score (100/100), where it maintains a firm commitment to continuous improvement and applying the best practices in this area.
