Electricity distribution

With 31,300 kilometres of electricity distribution networks, Viesgo fills the north of the Iberian Peninsula with energy: Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, Castilla y León. As an infrastructure company, Viesgo Distribución carries electricity to almost 700,000 delivery points, focusing on achieving extremely high quality standards. According to the latest TIEPI data, an indicator that establishes the quality of the electricity service and acronym of “equivalent interruption time of the installed capacity”, we are at an average of 37.5 minutes per customer, one of the company’s records. This progressive improvement responds to the investment made in innovation and digitalisation, the plan for which amounts to 450 million euros over the coming five years.

Energias renovables Viesgo

Renewable energies

Viesgo seeks to become one of the major players in changing the energy model in Spain. The goal of energy transition is a decarbonised economy in which the production of emission-free energy helps up meet the emission reduction goals agreed to in Europe. We therefore firmly support renewable energies, as our data proves: an installed capacity of 505 MW among wind farms and hydro power plants, with new commissions in the future, such as El Marquesado wind farm in Cadiz. Innovation and digitalisation in Renewables is another of our challenges to improve the maintenance of our wind turbines, with the clear goal of becoming increasingly more efficient.

Commitment to transparency

One of the major commitments of Viesgo is transparency, as it is stated in EU Regulation 1227/2001 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 October 2011 on wholesale energy market integrity and transparency (REMIT). We therefore provide privileged information from the market players for publication to make the wholesale market more transparent.
