The company reinforces its commitment to the conservation and sustainable use of energy resources

EDP Spain adheres to the Spanish Enterprise and Biodiversity Initiative promoted by the Biodiversity Foundation, the most important in Spain in terms of biological diversity, and dependent on the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.

The EDP Spain Sustainability Plan 2021-2025 is aligned with the global objectives of the EDP Group and includes numerous initiatives encompassed in 12 goals, among which the just transition, the circular economy, sustainable consumption and natural capital stand out.

With this adhesion, to which EDP Renovables already joined in November 2020, EDP Spain reinforces its commitment to the environment, which it considers to be a strategic management element, and also aims to reduce the impacts of its activity through a series of commitments in the operation of your business. In specific terms of biodiversity and sustainable use of resources, EDP aligns itself with objectives of net impact on natural capital and the circular economy.

EDP’s sustainability strategy, aligned with the UN 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals, ODS, has allowed a more efficient and inclusive global response, EDP invests in conservation activities related to the places where it operates through agreements with associations. And it is that corporate social responsibility is not built in a day: it is a job that EDP and its Foundation have been developing for years.

The incorporation of EDP Spain into the Biodiversity Foundation is integrated into the ESG (Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance) lines of action that mark EDP’s Strategic Plan for the period 2021-2025, recently approved. This plan foresees investments worth 24,000 million euros. Investments will focus on three main lines of action: growth in renewable energy, flexibility and intelligence in electricity distribution networks, and a commitment to designing and offering the most innovative solutions to its customers. This ambitious plan contributes to EDP’s goal of being 100% green by 2030.
